Information on voluntary Students who have left the compulsory insurance scheme (e.g. because they have exceeded the maximum number of semesters/the maximum age) have the option of taking out voluntary insurance. Afterwards, there is the possibility of voluntary continued insurance, only then you are no longer entitled to the student tariff. The prerequisite is that they have been continuously insured for at least 24 months in the last five years before leaving or for at least 12 months immediately before leaving.
